Bob Neil has lived in Aston-on-Trent
for over 20 years. During this time he has established quite a unique business -
'Burnt Offerings'. During the early years of craft fairs Bob reviewed the old
craft of 'Pokerwork', now called 'Pyrography' which is the art of burning
designs on wood and leather. He has a mail order section which specialises in
three-legged stools for children's birth or christening, wedding plates and a
variety of small personalised items for children and adults.
Over the last couple of years, Bob has taken a slight change of direction, spending most of his time travelling to some of the major wood-turning shows in the U.K., Norway, Belgium, France and the U.S.A. demonstrating his craft. Next year he is one of the main demonstrators on a wood-turning cruise from Stravanger to Tromso (far above the arctic circle). The boat will visit over 12 cities in Norway.
Bob teaches Pyrography; running courses at 'Craft Supplies' at Millers Dale near Tideswell in the Peak District. He also runs workshops for groups in schools and at scout and guide camps.
His work can be seen at 'the Catherine Wheel', Staunton Harold as well as various galleries in the Cotswold's and Southern England.
