We wholeheartedly support the Memorial Halls latest plans.

The proposed ‘refurbishment’ of the Memorial Hall fails to give a big enough alternative to the Assembly Hall at the hospital.

Extension to the Memorial Hall is brilliant.

Would really like to be able to play badminton in the Memorial Hall, but plan is not tall enough for that.  And tennis too!

Refurbishment of the Memorial Hall – encourage more social activities.

Will a larger ‘Memorial Hall’ be managed to meet financial and villager needs?

Too few people doing all the hard work to keep the village activities up and running.  Come on all you couch potatoes.

Young kids of Aston, who would like to be left alone and stop, being nagged at by the elder community who have not got a clue!

Mardy, interfering, time wasting, old people who have nothing better to do than waste the police’s time and allow teenagers to live their lives!

People leaving the teenagers of Aston alone and getting on with their own lives and stop interfering with theirs!

The enthusiasm of the residents to do lots around the village and promote a great village environment.

Nothing is bad about Aston.

People, should understand that the kids who hang have to go somewhere.  At least they are not drinking in the pub!

Friendly community.  The different organisations to join for activities.  It is great to see that the village leadership and villagers are genuinely interested in what is best for the village.  There is a special environment here that everyone can be proud of.  You don’t see this everywhere!

I cannot think of anything I dislike about living in Aston.

Use your brains for once and stop being pathetic.  Leave teenagers alone.  Give them a bleeding chance.

I have lived in Aston for 30 years and couldn’t imagine living anywhere else.  I love the people, the atmosphere, the enthusiasm of the various organisations and the community spirit.  I feel that further development will jeopardise these things.

The village is crap and boring.  There is nothing to do and the people are all mardy and overreact at everything.  They need to stop ringing the police.

We are not unruly teenagers.  We do not cause a nuisance.  Leave use alone and there will be no problem.  If half eaten chocolate bars are all people are bothered about, we will make sure we eat it all up!

The Gypsies on Acre Lane walking past is hazardous!  Surely they are an environmental risk?

It’s peaceful and calm.

Stop people lighting garden bonfires – why can’t it all go to the tip or in to the wheelie bins?

Something done about the drainage in the main road along the Weston Road just by the Village Shop.  After heavy rain it is impossible to walk along the pavement without being drenched by traffic.

Limit the growth.  Don’t want to become a suburb!

Encouraging local children to walk to school would be good.

Parking right on the corner by the Post Office by lazy people who can’t walk a few yards makes it very difficult to drive round corner safely!

Remove cars that are parked for school on Long Croft – move to back area of school.

Excessive speed of cars.  I have never seen any sight of police speed checks.

Some calming could be put in place on Derby Road if car parking from the bus stop in front of the cottages was legitimate and a cut out on the grass verge opposite made into road space.  Or, alternatively, a right of way.

The approach to Aston from the A6 (Alvaston) is very bleak.

Some more trees planting would improve the environment on the approach to Aston from Alvaston.

The countryside because it is peaceful.

The green space retained.

More care taken to look after woodland areas.

Must retain the woodland areas for recreation and wildlife.

More respect for the environment.  The willow trees on Aston Hall Drive and litter on the ground.

More access to wild areas, e.g. woodland on Derby Road.

Thank you for the new “dog waste bins”, they are put to good use by responsible dog owners in Aston,  (including me of course!)

Dog owners who do not poop and scoop.

Fines imposed for dog fouling.

Dog owners not keeping their dogs on leads or clearing their fouling.        

More responsibility from dog owners in clearing up after their dogs (particularly on Weston Road).

People who don’t clear up after their dogs.

Area for dog owners to walk their dogs without trespassing.

Dogs not kept on leads when being walked down Aston Hall Drive.  Children play in the grounds and dog doo is not healthy for anyone.

More recycling, not just glass, plastic and paper.

We try to put all rubbish away, but if someone emptied the bins then we would put it in.

Larger healthcare facilities.  Doctor’s practice combined with dental practice amongst other things associated to NHS.

Residential and nursing home accommodation required for Aston and Weston people.  They would be able to be visited by people who they lived amongst.  The village is all level, so people in residential care (if able) could still get about the village.

5.2 – Doctors Surgery

Better location for the Health Centre/GPs.

5.3 – Aston Hall Hospital

The hydrotherapy pool kept for use by residents of Aston and surrounding schools.

The hydrotherapy pool at the hospital could be used by residents in Aston and also maintained by perhaps retired people who would enjoy this job with maybe a small salary.

Protection of the hospital and grounds for use by the villagers.  Particularly the pool.

More information about plans for the hospital site.

Could we band together to find the supposed £2m that the hospital is being sold for then we could control the development.

It will be a huge loss if the assembly hall at the hospital closes.

Please preserve Aston Hall Hospital and pool for villagers use.

The size of the village.  Prefer no more development).

We don’t need more “executive” housing.

No more development – we can’t cope with more traffic.

The size of the village as it is.  Restrict new housing developments.

We dislike the fact the Aston on Trent is beginning to lose it identity, due, we think, to too much development.  The “village feel” is beginning to disappear and that is very sad.  If serious measures are taken to prevent any further major development within the village, we feel that the character of Aston on Trent can be preserved.

Like living in the countryside – don’t want to see Aston/Weston joined together with building.

Size of village is just right.

No more houses.

The property being built in Rectory Gardens.  Application was for a single storey dwelling.  Outline permission was for a dormer bungalow.  The building under construction has four bedrooms, 2 en-suites upstairs!

Aston Hall Hospital old site (Bloor Estate) – what is happening about the parish boundary?  Public consultation hasn’t happened yet???

7.1 – Anti Social Behaviour

Normally unchecked drinking and smoking crack in the churchyard.

Drinking and smoking happen because there is nowhere to go!

The constant nuisance caused by unruly teenagers (not all from the village), and the beer cans, crisp packets, chocolate bars (uneaten), left in the Lychgate.

We need to close of Aston Hall Drive (private ground) to vandalism, groups of teenagers and horses.

Noise, vandalism, litter, abuse, possible sexual activity and drugs from the teenagers (minority from village – majority from other areas).  The problem is in and around the Lychgate, the Vestry and Aston Hall Drive and is a real problem to local residents.  Groups of youths (male and female) can appear very threatening.  All Saints Church is a focal point of the village and to allow the church to be used in this way is totally unacceptable.

Parents should have a better idea of what their teenage children are doing in the evenings, and maybe install a sense of community spirit into them so they respect other people property.  You can’t always blame the teenagers, some blame has to go on the parents shoulders!

The village is attracting a very undesirable element of people from other areas who are causing great problems and who seem to be immune from chastisement.  This situation must be stopped before any violence takes place and anyone is injured.

Aston must shake off its “soft target” image to unwelcome outsiders as soon as possible.

People who do not control themselves when drunk.

People standing around the church at night – it should be stopped.

People who get too drunk.

Being intimidated by Lychgate crowd.

People parking at Aston Hall, unsocial behaviour around the hall and grounds.

The teenage problem at the Lychgate is appalling.

Relatively low crime rate.

The increasing vandalism and lack of proper policing around the village generally and around the Lychgate in particular.

More visible policing including volunteer “wardens” etc.

The police have better things to do with their time.  Give respect and you will get respect back!

I love our horse riding.

As a member of Aston Sunday football club, it disgusts me the lack of support given to sports in the village.  Resulting in no Saturday football club, a cricket club which has no relationship with the village.  Our members who are all local can’t do it all.

We would like to see improvements to recreational facilities for everyone in the village.

Fun run.

Golf course.

Skate park.

The bowling green to go ahead.  The solicitors should be made to resolve the problems.

The bowling green would be a great facility for the village both for young and old and in bet weenies.
