Aston and Weston Bowls Club
We welcome all people of any age to enjoy bowling in a friendly, competitive and social way. If you are interested in Crown Green Bowling please come along and we will show you the ropes. We also welcome those who simply enjoy the setting and company of friends, old and new to share a ‘cuppa’....you don’t have to be a bowler.
During the spring and summer months, April - September, the green is open for members to use anytime except when maintenance is being done.
Through autumn and winter we arrange a number of social events to keep members involved and active.
Club Bowling Sessions
These are a great way to start to learn the ropes, free to try out and you will be made very welcome.
We have four sessions per week where you can turn up to practice or play friendly matches, against other members. These are:
Tuesday Evenings 5 – 7pm
Thursday Afternoon 2 – 5pm
Friday Evenings 5.30 – 7pm
Sunday Afternoons 2 – 5pm
Bowls You are welcome to borrow bowls from the club. It is advisable to try different sizes and weights before buying your own. If you wish to keep hold of any bowls to practice when the clubhouse is locked please ask a committee member.
Shoes & Clothing It is important to wear flat shoes such a trainers.(Sandals with open toes are not allowed for safety reasons.) Appropriate clothing for the weather is advisable. We also have Polo shirts and Fleeces with the Club Logo on.
Competitive League Competitions
The club currently competes in 3 league competitions, playing against other local clubs. We play matches both home and away. Monday evening in the South Derbyshire League and on Wednesday afternoons and evenings in the Belper League.
Social members:
We always welcome social members, to enjoy the wider social side. This includes quiz nights, skittles and various other events. Not everyone wants to play bowls but everyone enjoys the company and friendly nature of the club.
